Carolyn Lee Paper Dolls

These Carolyn Lee paper dolls are by artist Queen Holden from 1943.  They are Whitman #997.

Here is the front cover with Carolyn Lee, her dolly and her doggie.  Notice that she and her dolly have matching outfits.

Here is one of the cut-out paper dolls and her dolly. There are also a couple of accessories such as hairbrush, comb and perfume bottle.  I love the Mary Jane shoes.

Here is the other doll from the back cover and the doll in an old fashioned baby carriage.  I used to have a doll carriage just like this.

Now for the outfits!  I love these paper doll clothes so much!  First there is a purple school dress trimmed with black velvet and eyelet white lace.  Then there is a blue dress with red trim at the top with little bows.  In this one she is holding a baby doll.  Then at the bottom of the page (upside down, but won't be once you cut it out) is another dress, this one white with cherries on the pockets trimmed in red and blue zig zag trim.

I love Queen Holden's fabric choices for the dolls.  Sooo adorable.  So on this page first we have a blue dress with a red, white and blue apron over the top.  So patriotic! There is a blue or red hat that can be worn with this dress.  The same hats can be worn with the other blue dress on this page, which has heart pockets with flowers on them and are trimmed in red rickrack.  The green spring dress is my favorite.  I can just see the fabric of this dress in the fabric store and how her mother must have sewn this dress.  Can't you just smell the new fabric?  Anyway, there's a lovely green hat to match that dress.

This page has a cute brown dress with blue trim at the top.  She is holding her precious dolly again in this dress.  This page also include two outfits, bows and hats for her dolly.  There is also a lovely yellow dress with a white collar and she is holding a pinwheel.

On this page there is an orange dress with blue trim at the top.  She is holding her doll again.  There is a matching blue hat.  At the bottom is another spring dress with a great big blue bow at the back.  She is holding a stuffed doggie.  There is also a green dress with white rickrack trim and a green bow.

This page has a red dress, a blue bow and a red hat, as well as a nice comfy blue robe.

This page of the Carolyn Lee paper dolls has a blue coat and a twin blue coat for her dolly.  There is also a white dress with a yellow sweater and a yellow hat.  And at the bottom is a red coat and a white bow.

And on this page are some accessories for her dog - a bed, a bone, a toy, a brush, a comb and feeding dishes.
