Paper Doll Crafts

Here are some paper doll crafts ideas.  It is one of my favorite things to do with paper dolls - create cute crafts.  This first idea is a birthday card craft idea.  I have given these as birthday cards to little girls and they are just charming.  Another great idea is to use them as a craft project AT a little girl's birthday party.  The idea being that each girl could create her own little card or book and take it home as their party favor.

Instructions to Create Paper Doll Crafts Card:

Take a regular brown lunch bag and fold it in half.

Cover all four sides with decorative scrapbook paper.  On the inside create two half pockets to hold the paper dolls and their clothes.  Cut a contrasting piece of scrapbook paper about half the height and the same width as each page.  You can adhere the pockets down in a variety of ways.  Here I used a simple method of decorative tape.  You could also use staples, eyelets, brads, double sided tape, glue, etc.

Cut out paper dolls and their clothes that you can print from this website and many others online.  I like to use the Betsy McCall dolls for these cards.  They are like the perfect size and very retro fifties.  They just seem perfect.  I put one doll and her set of clothes in each pocket.  I also print some extra little outfits to glue onto the pockets to help decorate it.  If some children were going to make these at a birthday party you can basically make one ahead of time and just print out the paper dolls, have the scrapbook papers cut, and let the girls go to town at the party.  Optional is if you have time to cut out all the clothes and dolls ahead of time.  I would probably let the girls do it.  If you are short on time they can take them home and finish them.

Since you used a paper lunch sack there is this convenient little pocket on the side, which I love to put a little printout of a play kitchen or something in there.

I love using images from the My Play Kitchen sticker book below.  They are just perfect!

Decorate the front cover with more paper doll clothes and wording, if you wish.  I use my Cricut to create words for my cards and books.

A similar idea is to create birthday party invitations using paper bags and paper dolls.  I have created a free kit and instructions for doing that here.

On there is a very similar book.  Super cute!

I made this sheet of tags for my scrapbooking website where I give away free collage sheets, but I thought they were so cute that you would enjoy them here as well.  You can download and print a full sized PDF file of the above tags here.

Paper Doll Journal:

I made a scan (PDF file) of a journal I made with paper dolls.  This was created as a 5 by 7 file.  You can print it out on cardstock, trim it to size and bind it together however you please.  I hope you enjoy this little freebie.  You can download and/or print it here.

There are a lot of great paper doll craft ideas in the books below.
